The Sydney to Hobart Boat Race, a fiercely competitive and gruelling long ocean race, provides an exceptional backdrop for a series of compelling photographs. On this particular day, I tracked the fleet under a canopy of streaked clouds. The light caught the sail just as the boat angled south, splitting the sea with rhythmic grace. There’s a solitude to racing that only the ocean understands, every gust, every shift, a test. I wanted to honour that determination. The image feels still, but the vessel was cutting fast.
