STORY

This was one of those rare rainforest nights when everything aligned - light rain, a silent branch, and one perfectly posed tree frog. I’d been tracking it under a canopy thick with mist, and when it stopped, I did too. Raindrops were barely visible to the eye, but in the flash they revealed themselves like stars. The frog, emerald green with just a hint of copper underbelly, didn’t flinch. It just breathed. A quiet, rhythmic rise and fall, like the pulse of the forest itself. What I love most about night work in Ecuador is how the forest transforms. It sheds its noise and wears stillness like a second skin. This frog, bathed in soft droplets, became the anchor of that transformation. The challenge was to honour the light, the silence, and the life, all in one frame.
